Christmas in the Clouds is the first ever youth aviation outreach event to be offered by Scarlett Skies Initiative, in collaboration with Aviation Academy of Louisiana. This free event is an opportunity for youth to engage with aviation professionals, learn of educational and career possibilities, experience flight in a helicopter, enjoy STEM activities and more.
The aviation industry is projected to continue growing exponentially, and with many major aviation and aerospace companies well established and thriving in Louisiana, there are several opportunities to pursue, with various career options both locally and nationally.
As a state that ranks 2nd in child poverty and struggles in areas like education and income, exposure to educational programs, pathways and career opportunities are vital. Especially when some of Louisiana’s top industries like manufacturing, technology and agriculture often include aviation and aerospace related roles.
Events like Christmas in the Clouds allow us to support disadvantaged youth in our communities through initiatives that educate, inspire and empower.

Please note:
- A guardian must accompany child for the entirety of the event.
- Legal guardians of youth (aged 17 & under), must give verbal and signed consent in order for their child to participate in a flight.
- Event begins at 12 PM with flights starting at 1 PM and only occurring within a certain timeframe. Early arrival insures that we are able to make sure all registered participant's have the opportunity to fly within the allotted timeframe.
- Weight limit maximum for the aircraft is 550 lbs. Amount of passengers on board for a single flight may vary, depending on weight per passenger.
